Drew Davidsen
As sound permeates the room, Drew Davidsen, with fingers traveling up and down the neck of his guitar, crosses tradition with creative technique. Drew Davidsen, has been actively honing his craft of playing guitar for almost three decades.
From an early age Drew was trained classically on the cello, and rock-jazz influenced by Ray Charles, Karol King and Creedence Clearwater Revival. His passion for electric guitar was ignited during his service on a destroyer in the US Navy during Desert Storm. Thereafter, he cut his teeth in Regatta 69 and Touch, an R & B group. He made his first mature home with Notlaw Recording Artists, The Richard Walton Group, a pop jazz quintet. For 12 years he was an active member of this group writing, recording and performing up and down the mid-Atlantic region. One fond memory was recording a CD titled \"Live at Blues Alley.\" In 2007 Drew was invited by Gerald Veasly to play at the Rehobeth Beach Autumn Jazz Fest Grand Jam Party where he shared the stage with some of the world\'s greatest jazz musicians and legends including, Gerald Veasley, Nick Colionne, Steve Oliver, Jason Miles, and Bobby Lyle. In Drew\'s home town of Baltimore, he has shared the stage with Garry Granger, David Bach, and Carl Filipiak. Drew is a popular session guitarist having recorded and participated in 28 projects. As can be seen, Drew Davidsen is no newcomer to the jazz scene. With a smile that starts at the corners of his mouth and reaches across the room, Drew Davidsen draws the audience into an experience, not just a performance.
Currently residing in Towson, MD, Drew Davidsen is heating up the air and media waves. At the start of 2008 Drew won the prestigious MOMENTUM Award for Jazz Artist of the Year, IndieHeaven, Nashville, TN. Shortly after that Drew was acclaimed as one of the \"Ten Hottest New Guitarists\" as noted in the June 2008 Guitar Player Magazine. Recently Drew was asked by Eric Copeland to come aboard as the newest artist on Creative Soul Jazz Records. Eric is also helping to produce a new record that will come out on CSJ. Drew has been writing some great new music and can\'t wait to show a deeper side to his playing. This record will feature Dave Krug on sax and rising smooth jazz pianist Jay Rowe from the band special EFX. Eric Copeland will also be on the record as well as a host of great session players too. Dan Needham and Gary Lunn to name a few.
\"Ever since I was a little boy I can remember having a special feeling toward music of all kinds. My Dad took me to see so many great artists like Ray Charles, BB King, Ella Fitzgerald and many more. On one recent trip home from Nashville it all came together and I knew it was time to stand on my own two feet and be me...smooth.\" - Drew
