Altar'd
What started as a college student\'s desire to share the newfound praise and worship music with his family and homechurch has now grown into a four member band that brings explosive live concerts combined with soul-searching praise and worship that saturates the house with the presence of God. If you attend one of their shows, expect a great time and an encounther with the Holy Spirit.
In their first full year together, Altar\'d played over 50 shows including showcasing at the Empty Vessel Christian Music Conference in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and ministering at Christ For All Nations in Lybrook, New Mexico. \"Touring the country in our big, ugly RV is quite an experience with this many characters,\" says lead singer, Matt Johns. \"We are given the opportunity to connect with people, and minister to them, while we\'re trying to live the dream. Not to mention, we have a great time doing it.\"
During their second year, Altar\'d toured the South headlining the \"Give Famine the Boot 2006 Tour\" which generated attention and income for the World Vision organization. Altar\'d currently has three records, \"Wait\" which is a 13 track acoustic, funk praise and worship album; \"Crimson Dove\" which includes several of the band\'s original songs, blending the likes of Caedmon\'s Call, John Mayer Trio, Third Day, and Nickel Creek; and \"Altar\'d: Live\", a cd/dvd combo that showcases the fun intensity of their live show.
2007 has seen the band further develop their sound and stage show. They\'ve benefited from working with Amy Wolter of Tom Jackson Productions, recording with Barry Blair of Audio Adrenaline, and sharing the stage with the likes of Skillet, Toby Mac, Family Force 5, Inhabited, Seventh Day Slumber and Barlow Girl. After the recording of their \"Live\" album and dvd, Altar\'d was nominated for four Independent Christian Music Awards (aka Momentum Awards):
Rock Artist of the Year
Male Vocalist of the Year
Album of the Year: Altar\'d Live
Song of the Year: I Am Not Ashamed.
2008 surely has a lot in store for the band!
